The Indie Author Project (IAP) was started in order to help indie authors build their library readership and helps libraries find “the best” indie books. Library Journal turned into a publishing community that includes curating partners (I don’t totally know what that means but that’s what it says on the site).
The submitted book needs to be an indie-published ePub in the English language and obviously needs to be original work the submitter has the rights to, It’s free to submit and takes a month to six weeks to hear back. It looks like 16 US states and 2 Canadian provinces are part of the project.

You can’t help but love these kinds of efforts! It’s a vote of confidence for a book that otherwise would not get the automatic validation that mainstream publishing garners. It raises the bar for quality on the part of self-publishing. And it opens the way for voices to be heard that can otherwise be shut out by the gatekeepers, the book industry. So bravo!
