More Writing Retreats!

Still not satisfied—Stephen King’s writers’ retreat, after all, seems to be focused on writers availing themselves of the Stephen King archives—I searched worldwide, and found fun ideas (I haven’t priced them yet). I’m not sure any have the rustic feel I imagine. One article stated that the ideal retreat is only three days long. I can’t agree with that. I found one in Utah—that makes sense, wide open spaces—and another in New York State—also not surprising. They are in Mexico, the UK, Canada, Greece (the photo there had people sitting in the water with open notebooks and pens poised!), Morocco and France. One in Morocco (pictured above) is a traveling retreat! All had two things in common: workshops or classes and togetherness.

One in the Scottish Highlands probably had the most appealing locale as far as both history in the buildings and scope for the imagination in the landscape. Monlack Mohr is 14 miles from Inverness. The small number of participants stay in the croft house.

Other UK retreats are in Wales and on the Isle of Wight. The one pictured to the right, at Ty Newydd in Gwynedd, Wales, seems like it could house quite a number of participants!

One in Mont Blanc, France, is a two-week intensive. This seems more like the life-changing or game-changing experience I’ve pictured. As long as the beds are comfy, I’m there!
