Eight Days In

I posted last week about my first newsletter promo, called Haunted. I'm learning how it works from the point of view of the host. Always before i just submitted my books to others' promos. As host, I can watch how many people have chosen each book and other facets.

Sixty five books are represented in my promotion. It’s fascinating to watch the statistics, the number who’ve looked at the promo itself, have clicked on book covers, and have chosen to claim a book. People have clicked on an average of 2.5 covers (so far) and claimed an average of 1.4 books.

Beyond the overall numbers, I’ve been looking at what books have been downloaded most. Black Velvet Ghost has been grabbed by the highest number, though two others are close behind. I go to the books’ landing pages to see if I can tell why some books were chosen more than others. Some make sense to me. Not all.

This book is described this way: “When a sleepy truck driver thinks she clipped an old Native American woman walking across the freeway, but finds no one, is it a ghost, or is her fatigue playing tricks on her? Our driver’s dreams are haunted by thoughts of her ancestors and a culture she doesn’t know. Is it related? If so, how?”

I’m curious what it is about the book cover or description that captured people. Or maybe they know the author and want to read more? What do you think?
